You switched a permission on for a person, but they still cannot see the module or use the feature. Work through this list from the top — the first three points cover most cases.
-
Does the person's company have the permission? Open Companies, pick the company and open the Permissions tab. A person can only have what their company has. If the company is a sub-company, check the company above it as well: a permission switched off on a parent company is off for every company and person below it, and it cannot be switched back on lower down.
-
Is the module permission on, not just the detailed one? Every PortalWX module has a main permission (Guestbook, People, Content, …) and detailed ones below it (Send Guestpass, Export people, Manage News, …). The main permission shows the module in the menu; the detailed ones unlock what can be done inside. Both are needed.
-
Has the person reloaded PortalWX, or restarted the app? Permission changes take effect on the next page load. Logging out is not necessary, but the page must be reloaded.
-
What is the person's status? Open the user in People. A user set to Forbidden loses the building's default app permissions; a terminated user loses all permissions and access. Verified and pre-registered users keep theirs.
-
Can the person log in to PortalWX at all? They need at least one PortalWX permission that opens a module — Bookings 2.0 on its own is not enough. Check that the invitation e-mail was sent (on the user's Permissions tab you will see Invite now or Resend now) and that the person appears in the PortalWX admins list in People.
-
For badges and parking: is an Access role assigned? App access to the building and to the parking comes from the Access role and parking Access role assigned under the user's Access section, not from a permission toggle. For a mobile or plastic badge, also check that the company still has badges available (Operations ▸ Access ▸ Badges).
-
Are you allowed to make this change? To change other people's permissions you need the People permission, you can only give permissions you have yourself, and only to people in your company or in companies below yours. If a toggle is missing or greyed out on your screen, this is usually why.
-
Check the Change history. The user's Change history tab shows every permission that was assigned or revoked, by whom and when — useful when a permission "disappeared".
What to send to support
If none of the above helps, write to support@sharryapp.com">support@sharryapp.com with:
- the person's e-mail address and company,
- the exact name of the permission and what the person is trying to do,
- a screenshot of the company's Permissions tab and of the user's Permissions tab,
- a screenshot of what the person sees.
